Time for an #introduction! My name is Ryan, and I live in the suburbs of Phoenix 🌵 with my husband (@Dbenhg) and our son 🏳️‍🌈. I work in healthcare business operations, but a large part of my job is getting to do programming and other tech-related things; it's a nice way to combine my interests in an exciting and challenging way.

When I'm not working, I'm a pretty big nerd who likes tech, expanding my smart home setup, Apple products, video games, Star Trek, and cooking.

There is a super dark movie where someone like George Santos stumbles on proof of an impending catastrophe and tries to warn people, but no one will believe him because he’s George Santos and everyone dies in the end.

I gave a glib answer when my daughter asked what I wanted for #Christmas . I now have world peas.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
And may the new year suck much less
Than the last three years combined

First day of 2023. Meet your children where they are, not where you want the to be or hope they are. Make failing safe...experimenting exciting...and deemphasize achievement in favor of rigor and resiliency.

That is all.

Sick of people calling everything in crypto a Ponzi scheme. Some crypto projects are Pump-and-Dump schemes, while others are Pyramid schemes. Others are just middlemen skimming off the top. Others are just standard-issue fraud.

Stop glossing over the diversity in the industry.

On how many Mastodon hosts do you have an account? (Please boost for wide sampling, thanks)

I'm really sincerely begging the fediverse to recognize the difference between capitalism and commerce. People selling products and services is commerce, which is a good and normal thing. So please stop being weird about artists and artisans who are trying to find their customers on here.

Attention flock: Please let all your Mastodonian friends know that the deity formerly known as TheTweetOfGod has switched universes, moved here, and brought his wit, wisdom, and unceasing need for more followers with him.

I'll be posting a series of posts showing the lifecycle of different berries.

Today, I'm starting with the blackberry. I hope you enjoy it!

Flying back (on a super delayed plane) from crazy fun play reading in Chicago. Let's play!

You got questions, I -- might -- have answers.

#FireAway and, as always, if you're inclined...boost it up.

The reason Mastodon and the Fediverse is spread out on so many servers is it protects it from being taken over by anyone. Not even the richest can buy this place.

Centralised services like Twitter are incredibly easy to buy out. If you move from Twitter to another centralised service, sooner or later that will get bought out too.

The point of the Fediverse is to break this buyout cycle, to let people be permanently in control of their accounts. More info here:

Fellow library workers -- please pass around word about @libraryland.social - a Mastodon instance set up for public librarians, academic librarians, school librarians, archivists and other library workers to share ideas, inspirations, questions, announcements and the like. If you're looking for a new home to move to after landing at mastodon.social -- that might be your new home.

If you are an #exvangelical #homeschoolsurvivor from the US, if you know your history curriculum left a lot to be desired, and you’re trying to catch up on what you should know, I’d liked to recommend THEY WERE HER PROPERTY by Stephanie E. Jones-Rogers. It’s an excellent, primary-source based look at Southern white women’s roles in the antebellum South.

If you used #ATI, #Abeka, or #BJU textbooks, and are trying to learn what you weren’t taught, I highly recommend this as a resource.
